GREEN BAY WALLEYE FISHING

As soon as ice leaves the Fox River in Green Bay, some of the best walleye fishing in the country is in full swing. With the Fox River having a minimum size limit of 28 inches from March 1st to the first Saturday in May, your chances at a trophy fish are very good! As the other tributaries of Green Bay and the bay itself opens up, there are multiple places for chances at big walleyes!

50+ fish days are common this time of year. Green Bay is known for producing big walleyes; 25”-30” fish are common with some fish pushing 33”+ on occasions. As the season progresses, after the opener, eater sized fish from 15”-23” are caught often as well, with bigger fish throughout the summer and fall months until ice up.

Night trips are also available and recommended in the spring and late fall. This is a time to take advantage of a fantastic bite for trophy fish. Many big fish fall prey to a crankbait being cast or trolled. Night fishing is one of my favorite bites for trophy walleyes with lots of fish pushing the 10+ lb mark! Lots of eater sized fish are caught at night also. If you have never experienced a night time trolling or casting trip it is a must do! There is no better sight when pulling up a 30+ inch walleye from the dark clear waters and seeing its eyes glowing at night before being In The Bag!
